Pollack is a member of the cod family, with a similar flavor, texture, and appearance. Alaskan Pollock has a creamy tan color, mild, and delicate taste with white flesh, large flakes, a slightly coarse texture and a low oil content. It has a similar but somewhat milder flavor as haddock or cod.
Depending on the species, Atlantic pollock is a relative of cod and haddock but is not as mild and white. In my experience this fish has a “fishier” tastes than other white fleshed fish. It’s not a bad fish, just has to be prepared a little differently.
